Accounting is the financial language of business. From a small business such as a corner shop to a large multinational, understanding and acting on the financial information is key to a successful business. Within Accounting you will be recording financial transactions and using mathematical techniques to draw up a company’s financial documents. Accounting not only looks at dealing with recording a company’s financial information, but communicates their performance to a range of organisations such as banks, suppliers, the government and management. Students who enjoy problem-solving, having a logical approach to solving challenges and interested in finance and business will enjoy studying Accounting at Suffolk One.

What will I study
There are four units that introduce and develop financial and management accounting. You will learn the central concepts and procedures of accounting, and how to apply these to solve business problems. You will further learn how to use accounting to help make business decisions, selecting from a range of alternatives within the social and legal environment that businesses operate.

Progression
This course provides an excellent base for students progressing onto a wide range of degree courses at university including Accounting, Finance, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics, Management or Economics. It will also provide an excellent foundation for further study of accounting at pre-professional and professional level, as well as equipping you with the essential accounting skills needed in the business environment. A career in Accountancy or Finance that people may go into include Forensic Accounting, Auditing, Tax Accountant, Stockbroker and Financial Analyst.
