Applied Science

A-Level

Applied Science covers all aspects of science to include Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The course explores the concepts covered at GCSE in a greater depth and develops your ability at applying the concepts/theories to the real world. Lessons will involve you undertaking practical investigation using medical based equipment such as ECGs, blood pressure monitors and spirometers. You will also experience a wide range of different chemistry and physics experiments and develop your analytical techniques. 

The Applied Science A-level is for those students that wish to study science at A-level whilst benefitting from the fact that the course is 66% assessed through coursework and 33% assessed through exam.

Entry requirements

GCSE grade C in Double Science and Maths.

Progression

Progression from this course could include higher education opportunities for the health professions such as nursing or paramedical studies. Applied science also offers a wide range of employment areas this could include forensic assistants, pathology lab work and many other allied science professions.
