This is as academic, theory based course which offers an exciting insight into the world of business. Don’t worry if you haven’t studied Business before, we recognise that not all students will have taken the subject at GCSE so the first unit (The Business Framework) provides all the necessary core subject knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable you to progress with confidence.
Students who wish to pursue careers in any aspect of business, including finance, marketing, operations or human resources will find this course provides a valuable foundation. Equally anyone with an interest in how businesses actually work or who wishes to study Business, Management, Finance, Accounts, Marketing, or
Economics individually or in combination at degree level will find this course extremely useful.
This course focuses on different types of organisations in various business sectors and environments. These organisations include those that are: large and small; local, regional, national and multi-national, and operate for-profit and not-for-profit. Students will become familiar with current issues in business and will investigate problems which are of current interest and importance in the domestic and international context of the UK economy.
All Business students are given the opportunity to apply for the prestigious Willis Initiative whilst at Suffolk One. This programme is operated throughout the academic year in conjunction with the global insurance company Willis to provide students with an variety of business and interpersonal skills which take place both at Suffolk and Willis’ flagship town centre offices.
