Applied Science (Medical) (Level 3)

Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma

This course will develop your understanding of the physiology of the human body using medical ‘based’ equipment we have at the College to include ECGs, blood pressure monitors, peak flow and spirometers. In addition to this you will learn about microbiological techniques and the development of drugs in the pharmaceutical industry. 

A BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is a work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start or progress a career. Valued by employers and universities, they offer a clear route into employment or higher education. It is equivalent to one A-Level.

 

Entry requirements

Students are required to have at least a Merit in BTEC First Applied Science L2, or GCSE grade C in Applied Science or Core and Additional Science and at least a C in GCSE Maths.

Applied Science BTEC can be your entrance for a wide range of employment areas and higher education courses.  This includes, working in a hospital as a medical physics technician supporting the use of X-ray and other imaging/scanning equipment, working in a research lab in the development of new drugs or working as a quality control technician/analyst
