BTEC Level 2

This is a one-year full-time course for those students who wish to develop the knowledge and practical expertise you need to train as a beauty therapist. At Suffolk One this is a starting point in beauty skills and may be complemented by future progression on a level 3 training programme. It will open up a variety of career opportunities. A range of Beauty Therapy practical treatments are studied within a salon environment .These sessions involve developing a client base and demonstrating good levels of teamwork. Students should have enthusiasm, commitment, and have a genuine desire to develop a positive professional standard. 

  • Give you the opportunity to gain a preparation for work qualification, based on the National Occupational Standards in beauty therapy
  • Give you the opportunity to achieve a nationally-recognised Level 2 qualification that is supported by Habia, the Standards Setting Body for the beauty sector
  • Give you the opportunity to develop practical capability for Level 2 beauty therapy skills 

This course is designed to give you a good mix of understanding and opportunity to apply new skills in a salon environment. You will have the opportunity to study appropriate units that cover the principle parts of the Beauty Therapy sector.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s A* - E to include GCSE Maths or English at grade D or a full level 1/ Foundation level in Beauty or Hair & Beauty.

Assessment

Suffolk One offers a flexible approach to assessment whilst maintaining rigorous standards.

Practical skills will be assessed throughout the course in a commercial setting in the salon. Your underpinning knowledge will be tested through on-line tests, oral questioning, written assignment work, photographic evidence and client reports

Progression

 Acquiring these skills will allow you to enter the workplace, or continue with within education on an appropriate Level 3 course.
