This course is ideal for those students that wish to continue studying all aspects of science to include Biology, Chemistry and Physics post-16. This course will prepare students for either direct entry into the Science Sector or progression to university. The course will develop your practical scientific skills and will cover a variety of scientific investigations.
The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three GCE A levels and associated UCAS points. It is a demanding course and is assessed entirely through coursework and students will be expected to supplement their classroom work by reading around the particular unit of study they are working on. The course will involve studying a total of 18 modules over 2 years. Units within the qualification cover areas of laboratory science, forensic science, medical science, environmental science and biological, chemical and physical science. A variety of assessment methods will be used for this course to include, experimental write-ups, investigations, and individual and group presentations.

Entry requirements
Students are required to have at least a Merit in BTEC First Applied Science L2, or GCSE grade CC in Applied Science or Core and Additional Science and at least a C in GCSE Maths.
